Performance of ACT government entities is at risk because the ACT government has neglected its accountability framework, Leader of the Opposition Alistair Coe said today.
The latest ACT Auditor-General’s report on ACT government strategic and accountability indicators, shows the ACT government’s Performance and Accountability Framework has not been maintained and does not reflect new government priorities.
According to the report, the neglect has created “a vacuum for Territory entities in developing and reporting on indicators and is a risk to the overall accountability process”.
“The ACT’s performance and accountability framework is meant to provide transparency and accountability in the ACT government,” Mr Coe said.
“This is an important mechanism for scrutiny.
“To neglect it brings into question the Barr government’s commitment to good governance.
“This government is already on thin ice on matters of transparency and accountability. I hope restoring integrity in government will be a key priority for the Labor-Greens government this year,” Mr Coe concluded.
