ACT Greens put politics above community values

Tonight, the ACT Greens failed thousands of students, teachers and parents by refusing to uphold community values, Shadow Education Minister Elizabeth Lee said.

The ACT Greens refused to censure the Minister for Education Yvette Berry for her use of the offensive words “dumb students” in a media report about NAPLAN.

“The ACT Greens have justified the Education Minister’s disrespectful remarks about our students,” Ms Lee said.

“The Minister’s remarks would not be accepted in the community, so I don’t know why the Greens think they are acceptable in media reports.

“They have failed to uphold community values, have set a very poor standard for the conduct of elected representatives and have let down thousands of Canberra students,” Ms Lee said.
