Andrew Barr should apologise for misleading Canberrans

Chief Minister Andrew Barr should apologise for falsely promising Canberrans that his tax reforms would be revenue neutral, Canberra Liberals Leader Alistair Coe said.
The Canberra Times today reported that the ACT Government’s rates revenue has increased more than 130 per cent since Andrew Barr’s aggressive tax reform began.
“This Government has been caught misleading the community,” Mr Coe said.
“Canberra households are hurting from unrealistic increases to their rates bill. Since reform began, Labor and the Greens have been telling Canberrans that the Government’s taxing system was revenue neutral and that Canberrans wouldn’t be paying any more.
“This is clearly not true.
“It’s time for Andrew Barr to acknowledge that he got it wrong and that Canberrans are hurting from being gouged.
“He should apologise to all ratepaying Canberrans,” Mr Coe said.
