The Canberra Liberals have made a referral to the Australian Federal Police following revelations in the recent Auditor-General’s report into Certain Land Development Agency Acquisitions that an FOI document was manipulated before being provided to the Opposition, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Alistair Coe said today.
“The Auditor-General’s report found that the Land Development Agency (LDA) amended a document before it was released under FOI,” Mr Coe said.
“The Criminal Code (Section 346) states that a person commits an offence if they make a false document with the intention to influence the exercise of a public duty.
“As such I have referred the matter to the Chief Police Officer of the ACT.
“The Auditor-General’s report also highlighted a lack of a formal valuation report for a block of land acquired next to Glebe Park in the City. As such, I have also written to the ACT Head of the Public Service to seek her opinion as to whether the payment of $4.2 million was legal.
“The Canberra Liberals are determined to restore integrity to the Chief Minister’s agency and ensure that there is no management or cultural pressure for people to act inappropriately,” Mr Coe concluded.
