ACT Opposition Leader Zed Seselja and ACT Shadow Urban Services Minister Alistair Coe announced today that if elected, a Canberra Liberals Government will provide hundreds more car parks in Belconnen. Mr Seselja said today’s announcement forms part of the Canberra Liberals commitment to increase car parks across the ACT.
“We often hear from residents from the Northside about the lack of parking around the Belconnen town centre and Calvary Hospital,” Mr Seselja said.
“That’s why if elected a Canberra Liberals Government would invest $500,000 for new infrastructure at Calvary Hospital to deliver around 100 new car parks.
“We would also commit to 500 new car parks around the Belconnen town centre in the first term of government, over and above natural growth,” Mr Seselja concluded.
Mr Coe said the Canberra Liberals support each individual’s choice when it comes to choosing their mode of transport, and understand that public transport isn’t an option for many Canberrans.
“We have announced significant improvements to transport in the ACT which include cleaner streets, free shuttle bus services in the suburbs and a $700 million plan to fix Canberra’s roads,” Mr Coe said.
“The Canberra Liberals are committed to providing better local services and lower rates and charges.”
