ACT LABOR AND GREENS GUT ACCOUNTABILITY MEASURES IN LAND AUTHORITIES BILL

ACT Labor and the Greens have colluded in the Assembly to prevent accountability measures for the LDA successor authorities, Leader of the Opposition Alistair Coe said today.
“The Canberra Liberals’ amendments seeking integrity, transparency and good governance were struck down in favour of discretionary measures by Labor and the Greens,” Mr Coe said.
“Andrew Barr has guaranteed the problems that plagued the LDA will feature prominently in the new agencies.
“The government refused to act on the Auditor-General’s damning report into the LDA. Labor and the Greens refused to limit through legislation the spending power of the board.
“It is very disappointing that the government will continue with its poor attitude to integrity in government. However, this is unfortunately what we have come to expect from Labor and the Greens,” Mr Coe concluded.
