Barr abandons police on the frontline

The Barr Labor-Greens Government has abandoned our police on the frontline, Shadow Minister for Police Giulia Jones said.

The ACT has the lowest number of police per capita and the lowest police funding per capita in Australia.

“Canberra is growing, but our police force isn’t,” Mrs Jones said.

“Instead, our police force is getting smaller. There are now 50 fewer cops out on the beat compared to 2010.

“In that same period, the ACT population has grown by almost 70,000 people.

“Our suburbs have become soft targets for crime because of the Barr Government’s failure to bolster our police force.

“Our dedicated and hardworking police officers have been abandoned on the frontline by the Labor-Greens Government,” Mrs Jones said.
