Barr Government failed to keep children safe

The Barr Government has failed to keep students, teachers and principals safe from violence in ACT schools, acting education spokesman Andrew Wall said.
It follows the tabling of a committee report on the Inquiry into the management and minimisation of bullying and violence in ACT schools.
“This report has highlighted a number of failures by the Barr Government to ensure the safety of children in schools,” Mr Wall said.
“There are clear problems around the management of protection orders and communication between parents, schools and the government.
“Complaints obviously haven’t been properly dealt with. This has meant witnesses and victims have effectively been left to deal with violent situations without proper support.
“The Education Minister’s attempts to put this story to bed, rather than address this very serious problem, has lost her the trust of the community,” Mr Wall said.
