Andrew Barr refused to support the ACT’s community clubs when quizzed on the community gaming model by the Canberra Liberals in the Legislative Assembly’s question time today, Shadow Minister for Gaming and Racing Brendan Smyth said today.
“In question time Mr Barr was asked:
WALL: Chief Minister, does your government support the community club gaming model as it currently stands?
BARR: The government has a Memorandum of Understanding with ClubsACT that outlines our commitments.
“Then in answers to supplementary questions:
SMYTH: Chief Minister, I ask again does your government support the Community Clubs Gaming Model as it currently stands?
BARR: I refer the member to my previous answer.
SMYTH: Chief Minister, has your government now abandoned its support for the Community Club Gaming Model as it currently stands?
BARR: The government has a memorandum of understanding with ClubsACT and the government, and that outlines a range of commitments that the government has made for this parliamentary term.
“It’s clear from this exchange that Andrew Barr doesn’t care about community gaming and community clubs. Only the Canberra Liberals value the work and commitment to our community of our local clubs
“It is time for Chief Minister Andrew Barr to once and for all express his support for ACT clubs and the ACT’s community club gaming model,” Mr Smyth concluded.
