Shadow Minister for Sport and Recreation Steve Doszpot and Member for Brindabella Andrew Wall will tonight host a forum for local sports clubs in Brindabella to discuss concerns about the deteriorating state of local sports grounds as well concerns from clubs about usage fees.
“Tonight will be the first meeting of three community consultation sessions where we will hear directly from representatives from many local/junior sports clubs,” Mr Doszpot said today.
“The Canberra Liberals have been getting reports that some sports grounds aren’t up to scratch, while some clubs don’t believe they’re getting value for money from ground fees and we want to hear their stories.
“I’m encouraging any club representatives from the Tuggeranong region to come along to tonight’s session at the Communities@work centre in Greenway from 7pm.
“Two more sessions will be held for clubs in the Molonglo and Ginninderra electorates in coming months,” Mr Doszpot concluded.
“Local sport is integral to the fabric of Brindabella and the Canberra Liberals want to hear how it can be made safer, more enjoyable and less costly for Canberra families,” Mr Wall said.
“ACT Labor needs to get its priorities in order and start thinking about the issues which affect local communities,” Mr Wall concluded.
