ACT Shadow Treasurer Brendan Smyth has urged the Government to respond to questions of uncertainty following the release of an independent report into the viability of ACTTAB.
“The review released today recommends that ACTTAB be sold, and therefore raises many issues that the Canberra Liberals will be watching closely,” Mr Smyth said today.
“We want answers on the future of around 100 permanent and casual employees with uncertainty surrounding jobs in the lead up to Christmas.
“What about the future of the service itself and the impact that a sale could have on the local racing industry given the close relationship?
“It’s unfortunate that ACT Labor will keep stakeholders in the dark until November, but the Canberra Liberals will hold the Government to account every step of the way in its handling process.
“The Canberra Liberals will fight for the Government to provide certainty by answering questions about the impacts on local jobs, local services and the impact on the ACT racing industry,” Mr Smyth concluded.
