An external consulting firm has been engaged to investigate possible cost blowouts and integrity breaches in the ACT government’s annual Floriade event, revealed in Estimates today.
The stunning admissions also revealed that funding in some areas of the event has been cut to pay for blowouts in other areas. An ACT government official also confirmed that half of the Floriade events staff have left.
“This is an absolute mess that is going to unnecessarily cost ACT taxpayers a lot of money,” Mr Wall said.
“Floriade is a signature tourism event that is visited by thousands of locals and visitors to Canberra every year.
“The Canberra Liberals have heard that the blowout could be more than $1 million. The Chief Minister needs to set the record straight.”
