Cost of living will go up under Labor

Unsustainable increases to the cost of living will continue to go up under this same old thinking government, Canberra Liberals Leader Alistair Coe said.
“Canberra families cannot afford another four years of unfair increases to the cost of living,” Mr Coe said.
Chief Minister Andrew Barr has signalled that rates will go up at the next budget, and he has refused to rule out other tax increases. Further, the ACT Government’s push to ban cars and gas will inevitably lead to higher costs to weed more Canberrans off them.
“It’s bad enough that Canberra families are shouldering Labor’s $3 billion debt bomb,” Mr Coe said.
“Despite record rates, taxes, fees and charges, services are worse than ever. Raising the cost of living will not improve services and will not clear Labor’s debt. What it will do is hurt more Canberra families who are struggling to keep up.
“The Liberals want to make Canberra the best place to live, work and raise a family.
“We want to bring the focus back to the fundamentals for families by reducing the cost of living and improving services.
“Canberrans deserve a better way. That’s why the Canberra Liberals will freeze residential rates to ease pressure on families,” Mr Coe said.
