Today, Shadow Minister for Ageing, Steve Doszpot will be holding a forum in conjunction with COTA (Council on the Ageing) ACT to discuss the increasing concerns and challenges of older Canberrans and the ageing population.
“The ACT’s senior population is faced with challenges that younger people in the community often don’t have to worry about. Things like mobility, rising fees and charges and access to services are big hurdles for many in their senior years,” Mr Doszpot said today.
“As Shadow Minister for Ageing I want to ensure the best possible future for all older Canberrans. That’s why I’m meeting with Canberra’s senior community to get their feedback on what issues are important to them.
“Often you’ll get great ideas and perspectives from these types of forums and I thank COTA for their continued involvement in representing Canberra’s senior community.
“Ageing is an area that needs concerted attention and I want to make sure the ACT government manages issues for older people effectively and compassionately into the future,” Mr Doszpot concluded.
The forum will be held from 1:30pm to 3pm Monday 19 October at Hughes Community Centre.
