Canberra will be crawling with Santas in Speedos this morning to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Association. Member for Ginninderra and mother of two children with CF, Vicki Dunne, is throwing her support behind the cause.
“Santas in their Speedos will be fun-running from Glebe Park to Kingston, commencing at 11am,” Mrs Dunne said.
“This unusual fundraiser aims to raise $10,000 to help Canberrans with cystic fibrosis. It is based on similar events in the US and organisers hope to make it an annual event.
“The money raised through the event will go towards exercise equipment and gym memberships for local people living with CF, and to help cover their medical bills.
“There are about 90 children and adults in the ACT living with cystic fibrosis, the most common life threatening, recessive genetic condition affecting Australians.
“Anyone who wants to support these hardy Santas can go to http://www.everydayhero.com.au/6500_Santa_Speedo_Shuffle or they can cheer them on as they make their way from Glebe Park to Kingston via Commonwealth Avenue,” Mrs Dunne concluded.
