ED WAITING TIMES RECORDS ALTERED AFTER PUBLICATION

Once again, emergency department (ED) records have been altered in the ACT health system and misleading results given to the public, Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Minister for Health Jeremy Hanson said today.

“It has been revealed that ACT Health ED data was changed after it was originally published. This happened on not one occasion, but over a period of years. The December 2014 and December 2015 Quarterly Reports have been altered,” Mr Hanson said.

“This means information provided to the Commonwealth for grants purposes may be wrong. Other records, such as Annual Reports, will have to be withdrawn and reissued to reflect the true results.

“What is worse is that it is exactly the same area of the health system and exactly the same set of data that was deliberately altered in 2012.

“Frankly, none of the numbers claimed by the government can now trusted.

“This is an utter disgrace. Apparently no lessons have been learned, no safeguards were put in place, and this government still can’t produce accurate records that can be trusted. If they cannot be trusted to produce accurate records, how can they be trusted to run a $1.4 billion health service?

“The fact is this government has repeatedly released false information that has misled the people of Canberra. The people of Canberra deserve better,” Mr Hanson concluded.
