Canberra families, workers and businesses are still waiting for the ACT Government to deliver an economic and financial package.
The ACT is now the only Australian jurisdiction that is yet to announce desperately needed financial measures to support families, protect jobs and help businesses keep their doors open.
As both a state government and council, the ACT is in a very unique position to act. The lack of action is creating even more uncertainty.
Businesses are already doing it tough, especially after the devastation of the bushfires and hail. We must do all that we can to protect jobs, because we know so many Canberra families depend on them.
Now is the time for Canberrans to support their local employers and the ACT Government has a very important role in demonstrating leadership. Now more than ever, local employers and their employees need the Government to act.
The Canberra Liberals have directly raised with the ACT Government real and practical measures that would help reduce pressures on families, help small businesses keep their doors open and staff employed.
The Canberra Liberals know that small businesses are vital for local families and communities, not only for jobs but as a key part of the social fabric. We will continue to advocate for Canberra’s small businesses because the jobs and livelihoods of so many families depend on them.
The Canberra Liberals remain open to working with the ACT Government in these trying times.
