Find Your Game can get Canberrans in the fast lane

A vibrant motorsport industry in the ACT will help bring back the fun to Canberra and get more Canberrans in the fast lane.

Find Your Game – the Canberra Liberals’ 10-year strategic vision for sport and recreation in the ACT – outlines the Canberra Liberals’ intention to support celebrated motorsport events like Summernats and promote more opportunities for tourism and motoring enthusiasts.

“Summernats has a proud and long history in Canberra,” Shadow Minister for Sport and Recreation James Milligan said.

“It has made Canberra a tourism destination for motorsport, generating almost $30 million from interstate visitors.

“But with government plans afoot to redevelop EPIC and potentially displace Summernats, the future of motorsports in the ACT is again in doubt.

“For years, Labor and the Greens have run roadblocks to motorsports in Canberra because they are ideologically opposed to cars. The National Capital Motorsport Club has had to jump through endless hoops to try and bring night-time race meetings back to Canberra.

“In contrast, the Canberra Liberals want to bring back the fun to Canberra.

“We want to see more support, not just for major events but for local clubs, 4WD groups and motoring enthusiasts.

“After years of neglect and disinterest, it’s time for Andrew Barr to get out of the driver’s seat and let the Canberra community get in the fast lane with Find Your Game,” Mr Milligan said.
