The Canberra Liberals again call on the Barr government to publish the light rail contract and all sub-contracts in full, to provide transparency for Canberrans who are being asked to foot the bill, Shadow Minister for Transport Alistair Coe said today.
“For Canberrans to be properly informed about the biggest infrastructure spend in the history of the ACT, the contracts need to be fully published and the full terms laid out for all to see,” Mr Coe said.
“So far the government has shunned our calls for the contracts to be published, including the Canberra Liberals push with legislation in the Assembly.
“If the government is so confident that light rail is the right project for Canberra, it should release the light rail contract. Serious unanswered questions remain about the contract in light of the government’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UnionsACT.
“Only the Canberra Liberals are committed to all Canberrans having a say on the biggest infrastructure proposal in the ACT’s history. The government’s decision to sign this massive contract and not release the details is despicable,” Mr Coe concluded.
