The Australian Government has recently announced funding to construct truck lay-bys and decoupling areas on the Federal Highway under the National Highway Upgrade Programme.
Senator for Australian Capital Territory Zed Seselja said the Australian Government would provide $3.2 million and the ACT Government $800,000 to the Federal Highway to assist in the movement of freight in the Territory.
“This project is another example of the Australian and ACT governments working together to build productive infrastructure for the local community,” Senator Seselja said.
“The announcement is good news for our local truck drivers and heavy vehicle operators,” Senator Seselja concluded.
Construction on the Federal Highway truck lay-bys project is expected to commence in 2015–16.
