ACT Opposition Leader Jeremy Hanson will join other Canberra leaders and business people taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout this Thursday the 20th of June. Mr Hanson said he is honoured to have the opportunity to help raise funds and awareness for a charity that assists hundreds of Canberrans every year.
“In my 22 years in the Army I have spent hundreds of nights outdoors sleeping rough, and I have great sympathy for the hardships of the people who are forced to sleep on the streets every night have to endure.
“Whilst I was surrounded by my colleagues and friends, many people sleeping rough are very isolated and rely heavily on the support of charities like Vinnies.
“That’s why this year I wanted to show my support by taking part in the CEO Sleepout for the first time.
“I’m asking all Canberrans to help me make a difference to homelessness in the ACT, and to please give generously to this wonderful organisation which has given so many people the assistance they need,” Mr Hanson concluded.
