Hanson calls for funding for Waramanga playground

As the Barr Labor government spends hundreds of millions of dollars on light rail for the north, Member for Murrumbidgee Jeremy Hanson is calling for a better deal for Waramanga with funding for long-called for playground facilities which have been ignored for years.

“The playgrounds in Waramanga really aren’t servicing the community. They are old and a long way from the shops where people congregate,” Mr Hanson said.

“The Waramanga community has come forward with a proposal for a new playground at the shops, which is the right location that will actually create social cohesiveness.

“The locals have come up with a very good proposal, with full architectural plans and local community support. It is now up to the government to back the community.

“That’s why I am officially calling on the Labor-Greens government to back the community and fund this local park in the next budget,” Mr Hanson concluded.

Mr Hanson will table a motion to support the Waramanga playground in the ACT Legislative Assembly on Wednesday 21 March 2018.
