The loss of business due to light rail construction should be investigated, Member for Yerrabi James Milligan said.
Mr Milligan wants the support of Labor and the Greens to help employees and business owners impacted by light rail construction.
“I am inundated with complaints that construction noise, dust and obstructions is driving customers away from local businesses,” Mr Milligan said.
“Across the board businesses are reporting a drop in trade of 30 to 50 per cent and in some areas, this has been going on for almost 18 months.
“Many business owners are reducing staff to extend the life of their business.
“If businesses are going under as a result of light rail construction, it is only right that the government acknowledges and rectifies the situation.
“I am seeking the support of all members of the Assembly to launch an investigation into the loss of business due to light rail construction,” Mr Milligan concluded.
