Indigenous Canberrans will benefit from expansion of Winnunga health facilities

Shadow Minister for Indigenous Affairs James Milligan has welcomed the Federal Government’s investment into the expansion of Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Services.

The $4.5 million funding commitment from the Federal Liberal National Government follows the Canberra Liberals’ announcement to deliver funding for two new dental suites at Winnunga.

Mr Milligan directly raised with the Federal Government the need to invest in the ACT’s Indigenous community.

“This is a win for the Indigenous community,” Mr Milligan said.

“There will be significant benefits to the health and wellbeing of the Indigenous community as a result of this investment,” Mr Milligan said.

The Canberra Liberals’ $4.5 million commitment to Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health and Community Services is part of the Liberals’ 18-point plan to improve the lives of Aborignal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of the ACT.

“We believe that Indigenous Canberrans should have every opportunity to reach their potential. Investing in health care that is culturally appropriate and best fits their needs is part of that plan,” Mr Milligan said.
