Companies in the ACT have the opportunity to win work on the multi-billion dollar LAND 400 Phase 2 Defence armoured vehicle program.
Senator for the ACT, Zed Seselja, said the ACT Land 400 workshop announced yesterday by the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, Minister for Defence Industry, was part of a national road show to ensure local businesses have the chance to showcase themselves and join the significant supply chain attached to the program.
“Maximising Australian defence industry involvement to create and sustain jobs and spur economic growth is at the centre of the Government’s plans for the groundbreaking project,” Mr Pyne said.
“The armoured vehicle program known as LAND 400 gives us the opportunity to modernise our military while boosting domestic manufacturing which will create and sustain jobs in Australia.”
“We are actively encouraging ACT industry participation – particularly in assembly, systems design, integration, testing and evaluation as well as sustainment,” said Senator Seselja.
“Pleasingly more than 400 eligible Australian companies have already registered to present their capabilities to BAE Systems Australia and Rheinmetall, the two companies shortlisted to participate in the next stage of the tender evaluation process.
“This is the chance for suppliers in the ACT to get a slice of the action,” he said.
The workshop will travel to Canberra on Friday 9 December 2016.
