Shane Rattenbury has demonstrated that he doesn’t care about his own community of Oaks Estate, refusing to come to the table to build basic amenities that the local community has been fighting for, Member for Molonglo Steve Doszpot said today.
“The Oaks Estate Progress Association and the local community have been fighting to get the basic amenity of public toilets built in Oaks Estate. Their initiative led them to seek federal funding via the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities Program,” Mr Doszpot said.
“However, Shane Rattenbury doesn’t seem to be taking any interest in pitching in for the public toilets.
“Here we have a local community working to get basic amenities and the Barr government is being ignorant. Oaks Estate is the forgotten community of the ACT and has to work hard to get basic services.
“This is another example of the Barr government neglecting its primary role in providing good basic services for the community.
“I urge Shane Rattenbury to stand up for his own constituents and put up a fight for this community.
“It seems however at the moment that the government is again interested more in light rail than local services,” Mr Doszpot concluded.
