Member for Brindabella Brendan Smyth is encouraging all Canberrans to come along to Manuka’s Paperchain Bookstore this Saturday to be part of the launch of local author Mr Chris Perkin’s book ‘The Adventures of Loren and Lightning.’
“Mr Perkins has written a gripping fantasy adventure story that is sure to appeal to kids of all ages and reading strengths,” Mr Smyth said.
“The book has already sparked interest from primary schools across Canberra, particularly appealing to kids hesitant to pick up a book.
“I am always happy to support local authors, the publishing of Australian books and the encouragement of younger readers.
“As a former book seller through our own family business as well as having helped set up the current bookshop in the National Library of Australia, I have a great love of books and the book trade.
“This weekend’s launch is a good opportunity for parents and the community to get behind a local Canberra author as well as getting their kids excited about reading,” Mr Smyth concluded.
The launch will take place from 10:45am at Paperchain Bookstore, 34 Franklin Street in Manuka.
