Shadow Minister for the Arts Brendan Smyth today urged all Canberrans to get behind their own home-grown youth dance ensemble Quantum Leap. The dance ensemble will be performing their annual presentation entitled Hit the Floor Together from 31 July until 3 August at the Canberra Playhouse.
“Last night’s opening performance was simply sensational,” said Mr Smyth.
“In their 14 years of performances, Quantum Leap has yet again proven that it is a premier youth dance ensemble in this country.
“This year’s theme to celebrate diversity, connection to the land, and passion for dance, brought together young ACT dancers with dancers from NSW, QLD, SA and Thailand, and collaborations with the NAISDA Dance College and Kurruru Youth Performing Arts.
“I would like to congratulate Dean Cross, Daniel Riley McKinlay, and Dion Hastie for the amazing choreography. Adam Ventura and Reuben Ingle for composing the original musical score for the event, and Ruth Osborne, Artistic Director of Quantum Leap for her dedication and inspiration.
“But particular praise must go to the 45 young dancers who made up the dance ensemble for their excellent performance.
“Come on out and support this Canberra based initiative. You have three more nights to see Quantum Leap present Hit the Floor Together,” Mr Smyth concluded.
