Residents and business owners in Tharwa and surrounds have told me they have been completely ignored during the most recent consultation process on the Tharwa Village Plan. They feel like the process has just been a ‘tick the box’ exercise with very little regard for their views, Member for Brindabella Andrew Wall said today.
“The Barr government needs to extend the consultation period on the Tharwa Village Plan because the process that is currently underway is a half hearted attempt to appease the residents of Tharwa after 15 years of poor decision making and neglect of the area,” Mr Wall said.
“I’m also calling for the government to develop a comprehensive plan to reinvigorate and revive Tharwa Village and the surrounding region. Tharwa is a resilient community and has much to offer as a gateway to the Namadgi National Park and with the recreation, cultural and ecological pursuits possible in the region.
“The Canberra Liberals believe in the future of Tharwa and are committed to ensuring that everything that can be done will be done to allow the area to fulfil its potential,” Mr Wall concluded.
