Yet again, the Barr Labor/Greens government has ignored and neglected the basic municipal needs of Tuggeranong residents as their rates continue to rise. Residents won’t have their rubbish collected at all next week, Member for Brindabella Andrew Wall said today.
“Notice has been provided to the ACT government well in advance that industrial action will be taking place next week. However, the government is still leaving all Tuggeranong suburbs as well as suburbs in Woden and Weston Creek with no rubbish collection services,” Mr Wall said.
“No catch up services or alternative arrangements for rubbish collection have been made available to residents of Canberra’s southern suburbs.
“Adding insult to injury, the only solution offered is one free visit to the tip. There doesn’t seem to be any consideration for residents who have no ability to make that kind of journey.
“Tuggeranong residents are paying ever increasing rates but are seeing no improvements to local services and amenities, and in many cases they’re declining.
“The failure of the Barr Labor/Greens government to ensure that 40 percent of the Canberra community has their most basic of municipal needs met, illustrates just how low on the priority list Tuggeranong really is for them. Tuggeranong is being totally neglected by Andrew Barr,” Mr Wall concluded.
