The Leader of the Opposition has released a video on Coronavirus which can be viewed here: https://www.facebook.com/553806571451467/posts/1632980603534053/.
The following statement has also been issued:
We need urgent action to protect the wellbeing and safety of Canberrans and our economy from COVID-19.
The days and weeks ahead will be difficult and things will get worse before they get better.
We know that this health issue will also be a significant economic challenge for families, small businesses and our community as a whole.
That’s why the Canberra Liberals joined with the Australian Medical Association to call for drive-through testing facilities and home testing for the less mobile in the ACT.
We’ve also called for urgent measures to reduce pressure on our emergency departments which are at-capacity. Importantly, we need to avoid a situation where potential cases are held in waiting rooms with other patients for hours before they are attended.
And for families and small businesses that are struggling to make ends meet, while the ACT Government’s $3 billion debt is constraining, it’s vital that we have a strong local economic stimulus package to help turbocharge the Federal Government’s $17.6 billion stimulus package.
The Government must fully prepare Canberrans for the challenges ahead.
This is a difficult time for the ACT. But it is a time for all of us to stick together. The Canberra Liberals will do all we can to keep people safe, invest in Canberrans and to future-proof our city.
