Today is the seventh year we are celebrating Giving Tuesday in Australia, a global initiative to highlight and support the great work our charities do, and an opportunity to give back to our local communities.

Giving Tuesday is the perfect chance to reflect and, if you can, give back to those who have given so much.

I have the privilege of speaking to many wonderful charities right across the country, of all sizes, doing their bit to make a difference to their community as Assistant Minister for Charites.

However, like many Australians, charities themselves have been doing it tough this year.

That has not stopped them from giving a hand up to our fellow Aussies in need during this tough time. Now is our chance to give back to them.

That is why, after an especially challenging year, I encourage Australians who can afford to do so to donate to a charity they support.
