ACT Liberal Leader Elizabeth Lee and Deputy Giulia Jones, the first all-female leadership team in the ACT Legislative Assembly, are celebrating women and encouraging them to #ChooseToChallenge this International Women’s Day.
Ms Lee paid tribute to past women leaders who have paved the way for women in parliament and leadership roles.
“I am grateful to all women politicians who came before me,” Ms Lee said.
“It is never easy being ‘the first’ and it is because of their courage and resilience that I was able to even think about a future in politics.
“With the first all-female leadership team in the ACT Legislative Assembly and a female dominated party room, the Canberra Liberals are leading from the front when it comes to women being represented in politics,” Ms Lee concluded.
Mrs Jones has encouraged women to follow their aspirations and #ChooseToChallenge.
“The Canberra Liberals fully support women and mothers to achieve their aspirations for family and career success,” Mrs Jones said.
“This International Women’s Day it is important to celebrate the achievements of women in the ACT and acknowledge the work that still needs to be done,” Mrs Jones concluded.
