Shadow Minister for Education Jeremy Hanson welcomes today’s announcement that parents no longer need to collect rapid antigen test kits in person or by drive-through.
Earlier in the week Mr Hanson called on the Labor-Greens Government to simplify the delivery of rapid antigen tests to students in line with some non-government schools who give the tests to children to take home.
“Making parents pick up the tests during the day from schools with little notice and using teachers, already understaffed to hand out the tests was stressful and confusing,” said Mr Hanson.
“This is a common sense approach and it is good to see the ACT Labor-Greens Government take on board feedback from parents, teachers and the Canberra Liberals.
“We need to ensure that policies put in place by the Labor-Greens Government going forward do not put more pressure on our hardworking teachers who are already suffering from chronic teacher shortages,” Mr Hanson concluded.
